The console war is truly over — Halo is finally coming to PS5

Halo: Campaign Evolved.

The original Halo is getting a remake. That’s noteworthy on its own, but the other big bombshell is that Xbox’s signature exclusive is also coming to the PS5. Halo has truly evolved!

Halo: Campaign Evolved updates the classic game with new graphics and mechanics. One of those mechanics is the ability to sprint, which is something you couldn’t do in the 2001 game. The game will also feature split-screen two-player local co-op and up to 4-player campaign online co-op.

This game doesn't have a dedicated multiplayer mode like we saw with Halo 2. Right now, this is a purely campaign-focused experience

Given how Forza Horizon 5 and Gears of War: Reloaded are now on PS5, it’s no surprise that the last big Xbox franchise is also now coming to Sony’s platform. If you needed even more proof that the console war is well and truly dead, this is it. While that might upset some longtime Xbox fans, it’s good that PS users can now experience the original Halo. And if you’re a PC user, you can play Halo: Campaign Evolved on Steam.

We’re living in an age of remasters and remakes, so I’m not exactly shocked that the very first Halo is receiving yet another remaster/remake. I’m also not floored to hear that Halo is coming to PlayStation. I certainly would have been two or three years ago, but not when there’s already so many former Xbox exclusives on PlayStation. Times have changed in that regard.
