The Connor Roberts moment that summed up Swansea City at Nottingham Forest

Steve Cooper believes Connor Roberts' matchwinner against Nottingham Forest epitomised Swansea City's battling display against Chris Hughton's side.

The Wales international's towering header in the 43rd minute proved enough for the Swans to earn all three points in the Championship contest at The City Ground.

Roberts needed treatment having receiving a knock to the head after heading beyond Brice Samba, meaning he was unable to celebrate what was his first goal of the campaign.

But Cooper lavished praise on the wing-back and states his performance summed up the Swans' overall showing in Nottingham.

"That epitomised the performance today," said Cooper.

"He's our wing-back who is in the opposition's six-yard box, jumped above a 6ft 4in player, a really good player, got a bang on his face, and headed it in the goal.

"I'm not surprised because that's Connor. He'd do the same again tomorrow, or the next day. I thought that was a really good example of our mentality, and he showed it there, but everybody was the same."

Victory lifted Swansea up to fourth place in the table ahead of Wednesday's clash with Middlesbrough.

It also means Swansea have collected seven of the nine points on offer since the final international break of 2020.

And Cooper believes his troops were well worth the three points against Forest.

"We came here with a real idea and intention to attack the game," said the head coach.

"I thought we were good for it. These are a good team.

"All of our body language and motivational wording was around that. To deliver a performance like that is really good. I would have liked to have scored maybe two or three.

"But when that didn't happen, you naturally give up a bit of territory and have to do a bit of defending.

"Freddie [Woodman] made an excellent save in the first half, I don't think we should ignore that. But apart from that, I don't think he was really threatened."
