Have you ever pondered questions such as Could a machine think? or Does God exist? If so, then this is the book for you! Each chapter in this book discusses a different philosophical question. First, the author introduces the question, then he uses dialogue for the purpose of looking at and explaining different aspects of particular arguments. The dialogue is illustrated by humorous cartoons which appear frequently throughout the book.
The book covers many different types of questions, such as moral arguments (Should I eat meat?), questions of existence (Where did the universe come from?) and questions about knowledge (But is it science?). There is even an entertaining debate that depends on precise use of language: Can I jump in the same river twice?
One of the many reasons I like this book is because, rather than forcing his opinions on you, the author voices his thoughts, then encourages you to come to your own conclusions. This is a book that you will keep coming back to- I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve read it! I think this is a book that both thoughtful children and adults would enjoy.
