The communities with the highest Covid rates in all of Wales

Incidences of Covid are continuing to rise with areas in both north and south Wales seeing triple figure case rates.

Based on the latest seven-day rolling Public Health Wales figures from June 21 to June 27, North Wales has by far the highest rates across the country, with Flintshire (161.4 cases per 100,000), Wrexham (147.8 cases per 100,000), Denbighshire (146.3 cases per 100,000), Conwy (120 cases per 100,000), Gwynedd (102 cases per 100,000) and Anglesey (87.1 cases per 100).

Elsewhere, Cardiff is the next highest with 100 cases per 100,000, while Swansea has a rate of 66.4 cases per 100,000.

This can be compared to the average for the whole of Wales which currently stands at 71.7 cases per 100,000. Despite the figures being the highest in the north, the worst affected area in Wales is currently in Cardiff, with 568.5 cases per 100,000 recorded within Cathays South & Bute Park.

The following are the worst affected areas in each of Wales' coronavirus hotspots.

Flintshire

  • Flint North East (273.7 cases per 100,000)
  • Flint South West (273.7 cases per 100,000)
  • Connah's Quay South & North (270.8 cases per 100,000)
  • Buckley North, Northop & Sychdyn (249 cases per 100,000)
  • New Brighton & Mynyddisa (222.1 cases per 100,000)

Wrexham

  • Ruabon & Marchwiel (407.4 cases per 100,000)
  • Rhosllannerchrugog & Johnstown South (384.1 cases per 100,000)
  • Pen-y-cae & Minera (227 cases per 100,000)

Denbighshire

  • Prestatyn Central & East (305.9 cases per 100,000)
  • St Asaph & Trefnant (279.9 cases per 100,000)
  • Denbigh West (267.7 cases per 100,000)

Conwy

  • Upper Colwyn Bay (250 cases per 100,000)
  • Old Colwyn & Llanddulas (219.5 cases per 100,000)
  • Llandudno Junction South & Llasanffraid Glan Conwy (218 cases per 100,000)

Gwynedd

  • Bangor South (360.1 cases per 100,000)
  • Abersoch & Aberdaron (289.3 cases per 100,000)
  • Bangor City (271 cases per 100,000)

Anglesey

  • Bodedern & Rhosneigr (264 cases per 100,000)

Cardiff

  • Cathays South & Bute Park (568.5 cases per 100,000)
  • Cathays North (392.4 cases per 100,000)
  • Roath (168.2 cases per 100,000)
  • Plasnewydd (165.9 cases per 100,000)
  • Gabalfa (162.8 cases per 100,000)
