The common mistake many people make when removing stains

Spilling a drink is so easily and often done but despite this many of us have been tackling the stains it causes incorrectly.

One of the most common things to do after a spill is to rush for a cloth and run it under a hot tap, but according to Liverpool Echo this could make the stain permanent.

According to the publication, hot water can sometimes set stains leaving many fabrics and soft furnishings ruined.

Instead of using warm or hot water, opt for cold water and also avoid soap.

This is because soap and detergents containing soap and soap flakes can also lead to stains setting.

So how should you remove a stain?

You should rinse the area with cold water first before tackling it with soap based products.

If you're prone to spilling a glass of red wine or a beloved cup of tea, you should never use salt to try and remove the spill.

Though many people believe it to be in ingenious hack, salt will set the stain permanently.

The best way to get rid is to rinse the stained area with cold water and use a stain remover like Wine No More.
