There should an NFL bylaw that allows for an exceptional touchdown celebration to prevent the possibility of a replay review because, well, Quenton Nelson and the Colts deserved that touchdown.
During Sunday’s game against the Jaguars, the Colts opted to give 331-pound offensive guard Quenton Nelson a shot at scoring a touchdown as a fullback on a third-and-goal handoff. And, at least initially, he did! The officials ruled that Nelson broke the plane, which set the entire O-line off into a brilliantly choreographed keg-stand celebration.
This was the exact type of touchdown celebration you should expect from an offensive line, and it didn’t disappoint.
I mean, just look at this:
Just based on that celebration alone, Nelson deserved his touchdown. But because all scoring plays are reviewed, it was clear that Nelson didn’t cross the goal line — a major letdown in every way.
Though Jacoby Brissett would help the Colts find the end zone on an amazing effort the next play, it’s such a shame that Nelson’s celebration went to waste.
