Days of hype and promotion from the Browns about a big announcement coming on Wednesday finally came to fruition. With much fanfare, the Browns revealed the NFL has granted them permission to wear the popular “Color Rush” uniforms as the regular base uniform for the 2019 season.
The Browns had petitioned the league to allow the change earlier this offseason. It seems the NFL bowed to reason and permitted the exception. The team will wear the brown base jersey and pants combination with the bright orange stripes and numbers six times. If not for the league’s exception, they would have been limited to three.
Cleveland will change primary uniforms in 2020. Those new designs have not yet been revealed or approved. Based on the fan reaction to the “Color Rush” scheme, expect them to not deviate too far from what’s working.
