If there's one food that loads of us devour until we're fit to burst over the festive period its cheese. Whether it be on a cracker, with some pickle, as a dip for crusty bread or just from the block, it is something that Christmas just wouldn't be the same without.
But who said cheese was just for Christmas? Definitely not The Cluny, as for the third year in succession the famous Newcastle pub and gig venue is hosting a massive three day event dedicated to all things cheese.
Taking place from January 3 to 5, The Cluny Cheese Festival 2020 will unite live music, cheese-inspired games, quality drinks and of course loads of cheese.
A teaser for the event reads "Put that post-Christmas diet on hold for one more week…for The Cluny Cheese Festival is returning! Three days of cheese-related fun for all the family! Incorporating The Cluny Cheese Market, The Cheese Olympics, The Big Cluny Cheese Hunt, Cheese & Beer Pairing, Raclette, live music, DJs & more!
"Full cheese list & traders will follow shortly but on the music side of things we have the Cluny DJ Tag Team, Hoolio & Heaven kicking things off on the Friday
Then on Saturday, we have our old pals The Sour Mash Trio playing live in the bar & on Sunday, a big festival farewell with the mighty Big Ray & The Hipthrusters! All for free!
What’s more, our friends from Anarchy Brew Co. will be taking over our guest keg taps & our pals Northern Alchemy will be looking after our cask offering & both breweries will also be providing us a special brand new beer each, brewed specifically for the festival!
