The clubs who could offer Fernando Llorente a contract following his Tottenham summer exit

Fernando Llorente is still on the lookout for a new club following his Tottenham exit at the end of last season.

The Spaniard's two-year deal, which he signed after joining from Swansea City in 2017, expired in the summer and it meant that he departed Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on a free transfer.

Spurs never officially announced his departure and many saw that as an indicator that he could return to the capital and sign fresh terms.

As reported by football.london in July, the Lilywhites put an offer of a one-year deal on the table to Llorente, albeit at reduced terms, but he hasn't signed it amid interest from other clubs.

Training with Sevilla's B team earlier in the month to maintain his fitness levels as he searches for a new team, a number of Italian clubs are reportedly keen on signing the 34-year-old.

Here we take a look at where he could potentially end up in the not too distant future.

Mauricio Pochettino: Tottenham 'didn't play well' in Newcastle defeat

Spurs

There's still the possibility that Llorente could return even though the transfer window is now closed for Premier League teams.

As the striker is a free agent he can still seal a move to the Lilywhites or another team in the top flight as he is not currently registered to a club.

However, a move could only go through if there is still space in a team's 25-man squad.

Mauricio Pochettino's side are really light upfront after the frontman's exit and he would give them another option from the substitutes' bench that they are currently lacking if he does indeed return.

Manchester United

Llorente has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford over the past few weeks.

The Red Devils only have Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood as attacking options at present with Alexis Sanchez set to complete a loan move to Inter Milan very soon.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed last week that he is not looking to add to his squad despite talk of a move for Llorente.

The imminent departure of Sanchez to the San Siro could potentially changes things though.

Serie A

A move to Serie A seems Llorente's most likeliest destination at present with a number of clubs keen on securing his signature.

Napoli and Lazio have been heavily linked with him this summer, with Inter, Roma and Fiorentina also mentioned regarding a move.

A move to Naples would certainly be appealing for the striker as they are once again in the Champions League and they will be looking to end Juventus' dominance in Serie A.

Reports from Italy have suggested that the club have prepared a two-year deal worth €2.5million a season but they are currently keeping tabs on what happens with Mauro Icardi's situation at Inter before they make a final decision on Llorente.

A two-year deal would suit Llorente given his age and it was previously claimed that Lazio were willing to offer him three years in the Italian capital.

La Liga

Llorente looked set to return to Spain back in January before the club decided to keep him following the injury Harry Kane sustained against Manchester United.

Athletic Bilbao have been linked with him previously but it has been rather quiet over the past few months regarding a return to San Mames.

There will always be whispers of a return to La Liga as long as he remains a free agent, yet it would appear he's destined to head back to Italy as things stand at present.
