'The club's beating heart' - First look as Newcastle United revamp the players' entrance at St James' Park

Newcastle United have completed a stylish revamp of the players' entrance at St James' Park.

The old entrance to the Milburn Stand has been decorated, and a message painted on to the steps which the players take into the dressing rooms.

As the pictures show, the entrance has been given a sleek makeover with a picture of Jackie Milburn now looking down over the doors.

A passionate message has been printed onto the steps which pick out the 'beating heart' of the club, and the 'spirit and soul.'

Newcastle's players tend to use the corner of the Leazes West to enter the ground, so this message will largely be seen by the opposition players with the hope of installing a bit of fear ahead of kick-off.

The message reads: "We are the shirt, the stripes - the Black and White.

"Our homes adorned with memorires.

"We are the expectation - the conversation.

"From the moment we wake, to our final thoughts.

"We are the Black and White Army.

"The club's beating heart.

"The spirit and soul of our mighty people.

"We are ready.

"We are Newcastle.

"We are United."

A section of the wall to the right of the Sir Bobby Robson statue has also been painted black.

It's understood that the maintenance is part of a schedule work plan.

Chronicle Live revealed last year that the player's tunnel was due a revamp, as well as the improvement to facilities within the ground for those with disabilties.
