'The club are going up' - what Matty Cash has said about his Nottingham Forest future

The future of Matty Cash’s future at Nottingham Forest has become quite a talking point in recent weeks.

The in-form Forest right-back has attracted interest from AC Milan, while Premier League West Ham are understood to have tabled a bid of £12m for the 21-year-old.

Everton and Southampton are also said to be interested in Cash, with reports suggesting Forest wouldn’t consider selling unless their valuation of £18m is met ahead of Friday’s 11pm transfer deadline.

At the end of November, Cash’s performances this season under Sabri Lamouchi were rewarded with a new long-term contract, and speaking after penning his new deal, Cash said he paid little attention to speculation about him leaving the City Ground.

Instead, Cash revealed how he felt about his new deal and his expectation that promotion-chasing Forest would secure promotion back to the Premier League.

"I'm grounded as a person. I've signed this new contract but I already want the next contract," Cash said last month.

"That's the person and I am it's the family I've got. I'm always grounded, working hard and that's how you get through life.

"I don't listen to any of that (talk). I'm a  Forest  player and I want my future to be here.

"I wanted to get a new contract. I didn't listen to paper talk."

"I'm really happy about (the new contract). They told me a couple of weeks ago I would be offered a new contract and I was delighted," he said.

"It's what I want. I love it here. The club are going up. They want to go into the Premier League and I want to go there.

"We're really happy. We just had a few conversations.

"This is the place I want to play my football."
