The clause in Ralf Rangnick’s Manchester United contract that will worry Arsenal fans

Ralf Rangnick is set to be appointed as the interim manager at Manchester United after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked by the club.

Michael Carrick will take charge of United's next Premier League fixture against Chelsea, but it's likely that Rangnick will be the man in the Old Trafford dugout when Arsenal travel to Manchester next Thursday.

The Arsenal Way's presenter and writer Bailey Keogh spoke with social producer Umar Choudhry (UC) on Friday morning’s Arsenal Agenda show as the pair reflected on the threat Rangnick could pose to Arsenal.

UC: "Man United don’t tend to make smart decisions. But, they’ve made the smart decision, finally. It doesn’t worry me the fact that he’s here for six months. It worries me that he’s going into the consultancy role after the six months is over.

“With Ralf Rangnick, he’s done it all. Everyone knows what he is capable of and people like Thomas Tuchel, Jurgen Klopp, they’ve basically said he’s the master. He’s a tactical genius, the godfather of pressing.

“If a manager like that is coming into the team, even if it’s for six months, it’s going to be interesting. Manchester United at the end of the day have talented players. Let’s not beat about the bush.

“They’ve got Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford, Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes. The attacking talent is there. Why do you think Arsenal fans wanted Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to stay in the job?

“They knew he was the deficiency in the team. Every time Manchester United lost, everyone was like "keep Ole, Ole stays". Other fanbases were loving it but now, they’ve got a manager who will make them press really well.

“It’s going be interesting though - will Cristiano do that? Maybe Edinson Cavani could come into the team. I like him. I think he’s the type of striker Ralf would like. How do you drop Ronaldo though?

“It’s the consultancy role that worries me. Say they get a manager like Erik ten Hag and Ralf starts working with him and they change the whole direction United go in. They’ll be going forward.

“While I’m nervous, I don’t think the players should be. There’s not much between Manchester United and Arsenal if I’m honest.”
