The Circle lineup as contestants star in new series of Channel 4 show

It was a real slow burner when it made its debut on Channel 4 last year and The Circle returns for a new series this week.

The show, dubbed 'the new Big Brother ' made a rather quiet debut on TV but quickly snowballed into a cult hit and now its back.

The Circle sees contestants compete against each other to be deemed the most popular for a chance to win a huge cash prize.

In the live final last year, catfish Alex Hobern, took on the persona of Kate throughout the series and went on to win a prize of £75,000.

And now there are a host of new contestants with their eyes on the prize as the show returns to Channel 4 at 9.15pm on Tuesday, September 24 , hosted by Emma Willis.

Player 1: Brooke

The Home Office disclosure officer from Buckinghamshire says she will be playing as herself and turns 25 just days after the show kicks off.

She aims to convince fellow contestants that she is a “beauty with brains” by sharing her graduation photos, and will portray herself as a student so as not to intimidate anyone with her job.

Player 2: Emelle

Emelle is a 31 year old lesbian from Manchester but intends to portray herself as a younger straight girl on the show.

The model claims this will make her more popular, as “straight privilege” is prevalent in society today.

Player 3: Georgina

The 21 year old will celebrate her 22nd birthday on the show, as long as she makes it far as September 30.

She will be playing as herself.

Player 4: James

In a bold move, the 26-year-old recruitment consultant from Liverpool will play the game as a young single mum called Sammie.

He feels that persona with help him pull on the heartstrings of other players.

Player 5: Katie

The 43 year old will be playing as her 25 year old son Jay, using his pictures, as she hopes to find him a girlfriend.

Player 6: Richard Madeley

Yes...THAT Richard Madeley!

The 63-year-old former This Morning host will be given his profile by the viewers, and claims he is excited about taking on a new persona that might be “extreme and embarrassing”.

Richard claims to be fascinated by the idea that people can form relationships and friendships over social media before ever meeting someone in real life.

Player 7: Sy

Sy on The Circle (Channel 4)

 

The 35-year-old farmer from Somerset is playing as himself and plans to use pictures of him with the animals to win over everyone.

Player 8: Tim

Tim is a 58-year-old university academic and animator who describes himself as a cross between Santa and Mrs Doubtfire."

He hopes the show will educate him on youth culture and get him more active on social media.

Player 9: Woody

Why you might not recognise him, you'll definitely know the 19-year-old's parents - Zoe Ball and Norman Cook.

The bi-sexual bar worker from Brighton describes himself as “likeable, warm and friendly”, Woody hopes to befriend everyone and become the most popular person in no time.
