The Christie is bringing a drive-in cinema to Cheshire this weekend

Buckle up your seatbelts - there's a new drive-in cinema opening in Cheshire this weekend, and it's for a very good cause.

Drive In for The Christie will take over the grounds of Arley Hall, on the outskirts of Northwich, to raise money for the Manchester cancer hospital and charity.

Screenings will run from Friday September 18 until Sunday September 20, with afternoon and evening showings throughout the weekend.

The film programme includes family favourites such as Pixar's Coco and The Greatest Showman, as well as blockbusters Skyfall, Bohemian Rhapsody and Mamma Mia!

They'll be shown on the world's largest mobile LED HD screen, the iCONIC 100, with a state-of-the-art sound system.

Food and drinks will be on sale before and during the screening, or guests can bring a picnic to enjoy in their car.

Toilet facilities will also be available on site, and one-way systems will be in place around the venue with clear queuing guidance.

Claire Ferguson, from The Christie charity, said: “We are thrilled to be organising this spectacular series of drive in cinema screenings with a great choice of films to suit a wide range of different audiences.

"By using the world’s largest outdoor screen we are sure that people watching will have an amazing viewing experience.

“We’ve put a lot of thought and effort into making sure this is a safe experience for everyone who comes as we want our guests to thoroughly enjoy the whole experience whilst helping to raise vital funds to support our patients at The Christie.

"Our charity supports a range of projects and initiatives for patients focusing on four main areas - research, care and treatment, education and extra patient services.

"Everything we fund goes above and beyond what the NHS provides, enabling us to give our patients the best care, treatment and quality of life possible."

The film schedule is as follows:

Friday September 18, 7pm: Mamma Mia! (2008) (PG)

Saturday September 19, 1pm: Pixar’s Coco (2017) (PG)

Saturday September 19, 5.30pm: The Greatest Showman (2017) (PG)

Sunday September 20, 3pm: The Lion King (1994) (PG)

Sunday September 20, 7pm: Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) (12A)

Tickets cost £30 per car, with five people allowed in each car.
