The chilling 'tap out' game being played by schoolkids so terrifying a mum has issued an urgent warning

A mum has issued a chilling warning over an alarming game sweeping the UK - called 'tap out'.

The game, worryingly, is being played by schoolchildren.

Mum-of-two Katy Spence from Boston caught a group of eight kids looking at playing the game in a park, reports LincolnshireLive.

But she interrupted the gathering to let them know of the risks.

The craze sees an individual being held in a strangle hold where their neck is pressed until they nearly lose awareness and they 'tap out' to flag them to stop.

A 12-year-old kid from Birmingham died in 2016 in the wake of playing the tragic game.

Another boy from America now has permanent brain damage after he played the game too.

Katy said: "I had taken my nine-year-old son, six-year-old niece and three-year-old nephew to the skate park in Kirton on Wednesday last week.

"I was sat on a blanket reading a book when I heard a group of kids, around 11 years old say that they were going to play the 'tap out' game.

"There was a group of around eight of them and they were being loud and quite intimidating.

"I usually would never say something to someone else's child, but when I heard them say that, I had to intervene.

"I said to them that they shouldn't play that game, but they didn't care what I had to say and said 'are you going to stop us?'

"They just had no regard for the danger they were putting themselves in, when I told them that they could end up in a wheelchair they just didn't care."

The game has been around for a number of years with three students in America all being left in a critical condition after playing it.

Jose Morales from America was left with permanent brain damage after he lost consciousness and stopped breathing.

Now he requires around the clock care.

Katy added: "When I got back home I was shocked and upset that they just had no regard for their own safety.

"Many parents don't know what the game is, but they need to know the dangers.

"I told the kids in the park that if they did start playing I would call the police immediately.

"No one should be doing that to each other.

"It's just so scary from a mothers point of view as it can be so dangerous.

"If they did it out of view, in a forest or a quiet park and something went wrong the consequences could be disastrous.

"Parents need to be aware of the dangers and know what games their kids are playing."
