The Chelsea star 'everyone at Arsenal says is extremely bitter and difficult to play against'

Bernd Leno has revealed that the entire Arsenal team hate playing against Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger.

The Gunners shut Chelsea out at Stamford Bridge last week, winning 1-0 in a resolute performance to keep themselves with an outside chance of qualifying for Europe for next season.

This season has proved to be an extremely frustrating campaign for the North London side, who are currently languishing in ninth place in the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta's men can climb as high as sixth if they pick up six points from their remaining two fixtures and other results go their way.

With the season reaching its climax, attentions are being turned to this summer's Euros, and Arsenal goalkeeper Leno has been discussing his Germany teammates.

When answering a question on which of his countrymen have a 'nasty' play-style on the pitch, Leno told Sport 1: “I immediately think of Joshua Kimmich because he’s a calf bite.

“Ilkay Gundogan is also a brutal player. He may not interfere, but he plays very intelligently. Timo Werner is also a disgusting player because he always goes behind the chain and looks for the rooms there.”

And in the case of Werner's Chelsea teammate Rudiger, it seems that it’s not just Leno who dislikes facing off against the 28-year-old.

“Antonio Rudiger is also a good example,” he added. “Everyone at Arsenal has said that it is extremely bitter and difficult to play against him. Such players are good for a team and hurt the opponent.”

Rudiger has just one year left on his current deal with the Blues, but Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel confirms wants to keep the defender.

“If Toni wants to stay at the club then he has our full support,” revealed Tuchel. “Nothing is better than what he is doing for a new contract. He is speaking with his performances and has been amazing.

“He is very brave and full of energy in his defending. He is leading by example and has a very positive aggressivity in him. This is what we like. When he can channel all this into top performances, we are all very happy to have him.”
