The Chelsea players Frank Lampard will look to after international break injury woes

A lot of Chelsea fans are not overly thrilled when the international break comes around, and the same has happened again this month.

N'Golo Kante, Andreas Christensen, Mateo Kovacic and Reece James have all picked up knocks during the latest round of matches for their countries.

There are still several matches to take place over the next couple of days, and Frank Lampard will certainly hope that there won't be any more issues for him to have to deal with.

The Blues have another packed schedule after the international break, with Newcastle United on Saturday in the Premier League before Ajax in the Champions League.

So how could Lampard deal with the injuries that he has already picked up over the past ten days?

Andreas Christensen

The Danish international came off late in their match over the weekend and it's another worry for Lampard with their defensive issues.

Antonio Rudiger has been a long-term issue, but he will hopefully be back in the coming games as the Blues look to have more than just one clean sheet.

It looks like Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori will benefit most from the injury to Andreas Christensen, while Lampard might well have to look to Marc Guehi to also fill the squad and to train with the first team.

N'Golo Kante

Another huge injury problem for Lampard all season has been N'Golo Kante, who has suffered with several knocks over the start of the campaign already.

Again, he pulled out of France's latest match and it means that Lampard might have to be careful when using the World Cup winner over the next few games.

Ross Barkley therefore could well get more of a chance, while Blues supporters are also looking for Billy Gilmour to get more of a chance after impressing against Grimsby Town.

Mateo Kovacic

With the injuries to Kante, the next player to move into the position would be Mateo Kovacic.

However, the midfielder had to come off against Wales at half-time and it didn't look good following a rough challenge on him by Tottenham's Ben Davies.

That means, Mason Mount might have to move into a more midfield position if Kovacic doesn't return by Saturday, with Barkley and Gilmour further options to play next to Jorginho.

Reece James

James is another player who is expected to be back in training with the Blues after pulling out of international duty with the England U21s.

The only player who is really going to benefit from James's potential injury is Cesar Azpilicueta, and it means Lampard might have to ditch three at the back for a while.

The injury to the 19-year-old is not believed to be too serious, which means Lampard might have him to use in the coming games as well.
