Frank Lampard will be tasked with attempting to convince Callum Hudson-Odoi to sign a new deal if he is named Chelsea boss, according to reports.
The former Blues midfielder is the overwhelming favourite to take charge at Stamford Bridge this summer after Maurizio Sarri left the club to become Juventus manager.
With a return to the west London club edging closer, the Mail on Sunday reports that persuading Hudson-Odoi to commit his future to the club will be top of his agenda.
The England winger, who is recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon, has just one year remaining on his current contract and has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich.
The German champions, looking to find replacements for Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, attempted to sign the 18-year-old in January and had a fresh bid of £22 million rejected last week .
Following the confirmation of a transfer ban and the departure of star man Eden Hazard to Real Madrid , Chelsea have made keeping Hudson-Odoi a priority.
And it is claimed that the club are set to offer the teenager a new five-year deal as they want him to stay put and continue his development under the new boss.
Chelsea recently made a breakthrough in their attempts to appoint Lampard, after Derby County confirmed that the 41-year-old had been given permission to speak to his former club.
However, Lampard's former team-mate Petr Cech, Chelsea's new technical and performance adviser, insisted that a deal is far from done and said that other candidates are under consideration for the role.
“The club has identified several candidates, the situation is open," he told Czech News Agency.
“Frank is one of them. Before the first team begins preparations we want to solve the issue of the new manager.
“The most important thing is to choose a new manager, it will be crucial in the context of further work.
“The coach will have ideas for the team, we will be completing the team for next season. He will have to look at the players and decide who will go to Japan.”
