The Chelsea morning headlines as Abraham's nickname is revealed, Blues tipped for £100m transfer

Here are your Chelsea morning headlines for Tuesday, March 17.

UEFA crisis meeting

UEFA confirmed last Friday that all fixtures in the Champions League and Europa League had been suspended due to the outbreak.

The governing body also announced that the draws for the quarter-finals of the Champions League and Europa League, planned for next Friday, have also been postponed.

All of Europe’s top leagues have faced widespread disruption, with the Premier League also postponing fixtures until the start of April at the earliest.

Coronavirus cases: The spread outside China

One suggestion in the media in the last few days was that UEFA could make a 'final four' tournament to complete this season’s Champions League and Europa League.

It remains to be seen whether that would be the case, but with the governing body set to meet today an update on what is to come next is likely to be provided.

Abraham gets new nickname

Chelsea's leading scorer this season Tammy Abraham has a new nickname.

And is nothing to do with the number of goals he's scored in helping the Blues push for a top four spot in the Premier League.

Rather it's 'Avatar' as revealed by teammate Willy Caballero as the goalkeeper replied to an Instagram post featuring what Abraham is doing during a lack of football.

It's safe to say that the nickname confused a few Chelsea fans on Reddit.

But one fan summed it all up perfectly.

Your1truelove said: Could be from the Avatar: The Last Airbender episode "The King of Omashu" wherein King Bumi tells Aang at the end of their fight, "Well done, Avatar".

Rudiger message

Antonio Rudiger has taken to social media to send a message to Chelsea fans amid the caronavirus pandemic.

The Premier League made the decision on Friday to postpone all fixtures until at least April 4th amid the virus' outbreak in the UK, with Blues' winger Callum Hudson-Odoi testing positive.

Chelsea confirmed in the statement announcing the news that any club personnel who as been in close contact with the player would be in self-isolation as per the government protocols.

That means that the first-team squad will have to do their training at home for the next few days and Rudiger has now taken to Twitter to give some words of advice to himself, his teammates and the Chelsea fans.

"Stay fit. Stay at home. Stay healthy," he wrote alongside a picture of him on an exercise bike.

The Tweet comes after reports in the BBC claim that Mason Mount has been reminded of his responsibilities by the club after breaking his self-isolation protocol.

£100m transfer

Chelsea are interested in signing Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez in the summer transfer window.

That's according to reports in Spain.

The Argentine reportedly has an £100m release clause in his contract at the San Siro and has also been linked with a move to Barcelona where he could play alongside compatriot Lionel Messi.

But Sport claim that the Blues as well as Manchester City are ready to provide serious competition to the La Liga giants or Martinez's signature.

With that said, it's being reported that a move to the Premier League is not a top priority for the striker which could be a massive blow to Frank Lampard.
