The Chasers respond to 'dirty look' controversy after accusations from viewers

Paul Sinah has denied accusations he was left angry at a fellow Chaser on Beat The Chasers.

Paul, better known to millions of viewers as The Sinnerman, was back on screen on Monday night as The Chase spin-off made its debut on ITV.

The new series, hosted by Bradley Walsh, invites contestants to take on all of The Chasers to win big money, but some viewers who tuned into the first episode claimed they'd seen Paul flash teammate Jenny 'The Vixen' Ryan a dirty look over her incorrect answer.

It all stemmed from Bradley Walsh asking the question "Songwriter' is a documentary about which English pop-star?"

Immediately, Paul looked over at Jenny, The Chaser known for her knowledge of music and pop culture, but she incorrectly answered Elton John, when the right answer was Ed Sheeran.

And Paul seemed to frown in her direction after the mistake, which viewers picked upon straight away,

However, taking to Twitter, he shut down any accusations he was angry at Jenny, posting: ": "I did not give @jenlion a dirty look.

"I didn't know the answer. And Jenny takes a lot of hits by buzzing in with pop culture guesses when the rest of us are clueless.

"My annoyance was with me for not knowing the answer."

Clearing up the controversy herself on Tuesday's This Morning, Jenny said: "I got a question wrong, but it's more about who is going to sacrifice and guess on a question and sometimes we get in each other's way.

"Sometimes there is a postmortem when it happens."

Contestant takes on all The Chasers on Beat The Chasers

Last week, Jenny did reveal there had been some squabbles amongst the Chasers, saying: "’It's very fleeting. I don’t have a good pokerface when I’m in the zone. You will get the glaring or rolling my eyes when someone gives an incorrect answer – especially if I was buzzing in!"

She added: "We were having to remind ourselves we’replaying as team. We wanted to avoid someone hogging the buzzer or crashing in with wrong answers."
