The Chase saw four new contestants take on The Beast, as host Bradley Walsh welcomed Lexi, Pete, Helen and Amit to the show.
Pete, an account manager from London, admitted he wasn’t happy after earning just £1,000 in the cash builder.
The contestant pledged to buy his girlfriend Emma an engagement ring if he won any money on the show.
He said: “If I won any sort of money, and my girlfriend found out about it, and I didn’t put it towards an engagement ring, she’d be fuming.”
The account manager proved Mark Labbett wrong after securing a place in the final chase, but it was his age that left viewers in shock.
After Pete told Bradley that he was 26, fans took to Twitter to voice their shock.
One said: “Pete is not 26!!!”
Another said: “Helen looks closer to 26 than Pete did.”
A third said: “Well done Pete, looking good for 40. You're not fooling anyone when you say you're 26.”
“26? When I was that age I would have looked like I was his son,” said another viewer.
Pete faced The Beast in the final round with teammates Helen and Lexi, but the contestants were caught by the Chaser with 43 seconds on the clock.
