The Chase contestant James caused quite a stir on social media after his appearance on the ITV show on Tuesday.
The well-dressed and well-spoken general knowledge wiz captivated viewers at home with his insight into everything from science, to movies and pop culture.
But as he continued to nail the questions that host Bradley Walsh was dishing out, eagle-eyed spectators noticed an “annoying” habit of James’ when he prepared to answer the questions.
Taking to Twitter, vexed viewers flocked in their dozens to mock the gamer’s facial expressions.
“Why is he tilting his head back and casting that grin across his face? James stop it!” questioned one Twitter user.
"James is gonna need some serious botox if he keeps raising his eyebrows that high," another quipped.
“This James dude is going to pass out in a minute. Is he okay? His facial expressions are blood-boiling!” a third mocked.
While a fourth fan replied: “I know right? He’s pulling faces as if he doesn’t have a clue and keeps getting them right. He’s cocky to me!”.
Despite his expressive mannerisms, James soon won back audiences as he took on The Chaser, Anne Hegarty.
His team begged him to fight it out against The Governess because he had "knowledge that they didn’t".
Although he tried his utmost best to outsmart the all-knowing Anne, James admitted defeat.
The explosive episode comes the same week that fans pointed out the new changes ITV has made to the studio since the beginning of the Covid-19 outbreak.
ITV bosses have erected a clear perspex wall between all contestants to ensure everyone is kept safe.
Fans were divided over the changes, with some delighted to see the show behaving responsibly and being able to continue to film during Covid.
Others revealed they found it hard to get used to, especially as Bradley is known and loved for hugging the contestants.
