The Chase viewers in stitches after contestant thinks Home Alone's Kevin was stung to death by bees

The Chase fans were left in stitches during the latest installment of the ITV quiz show.

During Tuesday's show, presenter Bradley Walsh welcomed four new hopefuls named Shirley, Ro, Caroline and Omar as they attempted to beat the chaser.

Early on in the show, contestant Caroline had stepped up to the podium and was asked a question regarding the popular child actor Macaulay Culkin.

"In what 90s film was Macaulay Culkin stung to death by bees?" Bradley asked as the timer ticked on.

"Home Alone?" Caroline appeared to guess.

Bradley quickly corrected her, saying the answer was actually My Girl.

Viewers of the ITV show found the moment hilarious, and revealed that they were eager to see a Home Alone version where the character is stung by bees.

"Caroline thought that Macaulay Culkin was stung to death by bees in Home Alone. I need to see that version #thechase," wrote on Twitter fan.

"It's alright Marv, the bees have got him!" #thechase " joked another.

"I must have missed that scene in Home Alone where Kevin McCallister gets stung to death by bees by the Wet Bandits #TheChase," explained another.

Other viewers also pointed out that the lead character meeting his untimely end thanks to some bees would have certainly put a damper on the hit Christmas movie.

Despite the hilarious blunder, Caroline was in fact the only contestant to make it through to the final round, with her other three competitors being quickly eliminated by chaser Shaun Wallace, known as the Dark Destroyer.

With 30 seconds left in the final round, Caroline was sadly eliminated as Shaun managed to quickly catch up to her lead.

Despite going home empty handed, Shaun commended Caroline for her challenge, noting the episode had been a: "Quality performance by a quality player."

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm
