The Chase viewers furious Shaun 'Dark Destroyer' Wallace was 'allowed' wrong answer

The Chase fans took to Twitter in anger over a 'wrong answer' on the quiz show.

Thursday night's episode saw chaser Shaun 'The Dark Destroyer' Wallace take on Vee, Jimmy, and Jo in the final round as they made a play for the £30,000 they had banked.

Shaun wobbled as he got two questions wrong while chasing the 15 they'd answered but caught them out and stole the prize fund.

However, one of his questions caused fury because it was technically wrong according to pernickety viewers watching at home.

Quiz host Bradley Walsh asked Shaun: "What type of an appliance is a Dyson V8 Absolute?"

Viewers fumed on Twitter that Shaun shouldn't have been allowed the answer 'Hoover' (Twitter)

Shaun quickly replied: "Hoover."

But dedicated general knowledge fans pointed out that the word Hoover itself is a brand name and the 'correct' answer should be vacuum cleaner.

"He shouldn't have been allowed 'Hoover'!" fumed one.

"@ITVChase just allowed the answer 'Hoover' (which is a brand) to a question about Dyson (another brand). That's wrong. The answer is vacuum cleaner #TheChase," corrected another.

Many more echoed the same comments: "How can a Dyson be a 'Hoover'. Should have been given as incorrect surely? #TheChase"

Others pointed out that while Hoover is a brand name the word is often used in British vocabulary to mean vacuum cleaner.

After a shaky start during the chaser rounds where Shaun fumbled on a few questions he managed to catch out Andy leaving just three in the final.

They managed to secure £30,000 but lost it all when Shaun beat them with 30 seconds still left on the clock.
