The Chase viewers convinced contestant has ruined career after disclosing job live on air

The Chase viewers were left stunned after one particular contestant revealed her profession on the ITV1 favourite show last night.

Several viewers tuning into the ITV1 quiz programme, hosted by Bradley Walsh, were left convinced that the guest had put her career at risk after letting her occupation slip.

Sandy, 54, was one of four new contestants on the show, trying to land a life-changing sum of money against The Chaser.

The Midlands native, who scored £5,000 in her cash builder, spoke to Bradley before the gaming began, and admitted to working a 'variety' of jobs.

The 54-year-old was once a full-time teacher, but now she does something 'very different' in Nottinghamshire, alongside the occasional bit of teaching and tutoring.

Sandy admitted that being a teacher was her favourite job to date, but also admitted to being a mystery shopper, and it was this job that made viewers at home raise their eyebrows.

After confessing her rather unique job title, The Chase viewers were left worried that Sandy will get the sack.

Taking to Twitter, fans of the show insisted that Sandy had made a 'massive mistake' by revealing her profession.

One baffled viewer wrote: "A mystery shopper going on TV is a bit like James Bond telling everybody he's a spy."

While another teased: "Well, she's not exactly a mystery anymore is she? Afraid Sandy might be getting the sack!".

"Oh no! Why did she just reveal that she's a mystery shopper? What a massive mistake!" a third echoed.

"Sandy. What have you just done girl! There's no mystery left to you anymore!" a fourth quipped.

It didn't stop there however, as more viewers shared their sorrow for Sandy after her slip up.

"Oh no, I feel so sorry for her. She looks as though she's seen a ghost after revealing that!" tweeted one concerned viewer.

While another shared: "Awh poor Sandy, she's not really a mystery anymore. Feel so bad for her!".

Despite her faux pas Sandy managed to get past The Governess, Anne Hegerty and bring back £5,000 to her team.

The Chase continues at 5pm on ITV today.
