The Chase viewers baffled as contestant’s seemingly correct answer is rejected

Views of The Chase were left baffled as a contestant's seemingly correct answer was rejected by Bradley Walsh.

The incident happened on Monday’s episode, which saw Dave, Natalie, Jonathon and Janet go up against Chaser Jenny Ryan for the chance to win a cash prize.

Fans couldn’t understand how Dave’s answer to a question was not accepted when he rightly said the key word in his reply.

But game show host Bradders was perhaps being too pernickety during the ITV show’s cashbuilder round.

Bradley asked Dave: "What word ends the full title of the TV show known as 'I'm A Celebrity...?"

To which Dave replied: "Get Me Out Of Here."

But it wasn't right after all - Bradley corrected him, saying: "Here."

Dave won £5,000 in the round before going head to head with Chaser Jenny Ryan - but many believed he should have been given the extra £1,000.

Fans of the show were confused as to why Dave’s answer was not deemed as correct, with some branding it “harsh”.

Others wondered whether Bradley had misheard Dave’s answer due to his accent.

One viewer tweeted: "Most harsh wrong answer ever. Get me out of here."

A second asked: "He said 'here' didn't he?"

A third pondered: "Why did Bradley not give him that question on his cash builder?”

A fourth ranted: "'I’m a celebrity get me out of here' just because he said ere instead of here!!! It’s his accent!!"

Another posted: "I'm confused - didn't Dave say I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here? Did I mishear it or did Bradley Walsh?"

And: "I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of 'Ere'. Not an acceptable answer on #thechase."

But the reason for the rejection appeared to be because Dave offered too many words in his answer.

One fan clarified: "The question was "the last word", which is "here". "Get me out of here" is five words."

"Rewound it to check, definitely said 'here'. Didn't get it because Bradley said 'one word'. Unfortunately, he gave the five. Harsh but still wrong, I guess." Another added.

The Chase airs weekdays from 5pm on ITV.
