The Chase viewers baffled after contestant repeats wrong answer

The Chase viewers were left baffled yesterday after a contestant repeated a wrong answer.

Hosted by Bradley Walsh, the popular ITV quiz saw contestants Karl and Liam make it to the final chase with £8,000 in the cash-pot.

The pair were up against Mark "The Beast" Labbett and had managed to secure a 12-step head start.

During the final chase, Bradley asked The Beast what year the Balfour declaration was written in, to which he answered: "1918".

The answer was incorrect and so Karl and Liam were given the opportunity the push the chaser back a step if they answered correctly.

However, the pair somehow managed to accidentally give the same answer of 1918, after suggesting 1917 amongst themselves, the correct answer.

"That's what I said," The Beast said.

"Too late, you've given your answer," Bradley said.

The Chase fans mocked the contestants on social media after the awkward blunder.

One wrote on Twitter: "The Beast said 1918 - so why the f*** are you saying 1918?! #TheChase"

Another fumed: "These plonckers actually thought they could give another answer if they give the same answer as the chaser. #The Chase"

A third said: "#TheChase Beast....1918. Wrong. Karl....1918. Jesus Christ. MUPPET"

"1918 lol..Dumb and dumber... #thechase," a fourth wrote.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
