The Chase star Jenny Ryan mistook Covid for four bottles of wine hangover

The Chase star Jenny Ryan has revealed how she had Covid-19 last Christmas but mistook it for the 'worst hangover' of her life.

Jenny, who is nicknamed The Vixen on the popular tea-time quiz show, said she'd been out drinking two nights in a row and thought her coronavirus symptoms were down to the booze.

Asked to reveal her worst ever hangover, Jenny told the Spit or Swallow podcast : "I mean, they are getting worse as I get older.

"And since, sadly, since Covid – cos I had it last Christmas – and yeah, everything is so much more of an effort."

She told the podcast, in which celebrity guests join comedians Lou Conran and Sally-Anne Hayward for a chat over a drinl of their choice, that she didn't have the 'traditional symptoms.'

"My Covid felt like I had the worst hangover of my life. Which I had. I’d been out drinking two nights in a row and I thought, 'this is it now. This is it,'" she told them.

"I’m nearly in my 40s. This is what life is now. I can’t go out and drink four bottles of wine and expect not to suffer."

Jenny, 39, from Bolton, first appeared as a Chaser in 2015.

Her first quiz show appearance was on Univerity Challenge helping the University of Leeds to reach the semi-finals in 2003.

She also appeared on Mastermind in 2006, choosing the American television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer as her specialist subject.

In 2019 Jenny was one of the celebs competing in Celebrity X Factor.

She was initially eliminated before the live shows, leading to viewers calling for her return.

She went on to reach the final and finished in third place.
