The Chase star Jane defies expectations as she goes from ‘miserable’ to ‘machine’

The Chase star Jane astonished viewers during Friday's episode when she defies expectations with her incredible performance.

Now retired, Jane spent 34 years as a secondary school biology teacher in Lincolndshire.

She said she now enjoyed spending time with her grandson and knitting, and her favourite bands were Kasabian and Oasis.

Many viewers had cruelly branded Jane "boring" and "miserable" when she came off quiet and shy while chatting to Bradley Walsh.

But Jane almost got every single question right in her cashbuilder round, and Bradley was utterly stunned.

When Bradley told Jane she had got a whopping £9,000, her fellow chasers cheered but Jane just smiled quietly.

He asked her if she had been cheating and she said no, but he told her to see him afterwards as he was convinced she had the answers written on her hand.

One of the questions Jane answered correctly was: "Which Inbetweeners star plays Nick in the 2018 film The Festival?"

"Joe Thomas," replied Jane.

As chaser Paul Sinha entered the studio to play against Jane, he remarked: "Congratulations Jane, to be a player in a team this good takes some doing.

"As well as that, this show has been going for ten years now, and I reckon your Joe Thomas answer is just about the best answer I have ever seen in a cashbuilder.

"I know Joe Thomas and I don't think even he would know the answer to that question."

And Jane astonished again during the final round as she beat all her teammates to the buzzer and answered most of the answers correctly, the team winning £24,000 altogether.

One viewer tweeted: "How p**sed off must Jane be knowing she has to split the £24k winnings when she answered almost every question #TheChase ".

Another wrote: " #TheChase Jane... ignore the comments. You're very brave and will surprise us all. #bekind ".

"Get in Jane. Ignore the horrible comments you were awesome. So what if she's a bit shy and quiet. Not everyone is outgoing and talkative," remarked a third.

A fourth predicted: "Jane will probably end up a chaser, what a player!!"
