The Chase star Darragh Ennis confirms he hasn't been sacked after confusion

The Chase's Irish star Darragh 'The Menace' Ennis has confirmed that this week, ITV will air repeated episodes.

It came as viewers were left confused by his absence during the 'Meet the Chasers' bit of the show.

Darragh joined the hit quiz show last year, having initially appeared on a contestant in 2017.

However, with repeated episodes coming up we won't be seeing Darragh on our screens for some time.

As there is always speculation that he's been fired when he is absent from the show, Darragh has confirmed that he's not been sacked ahead of the old shows being aired.

He's also told people that he's not sure when filming will resume but it will be "later in the year".

Darragh Tweeted to his 18k followers: "Right, the Chase goes to repeats next week. No, I've not been sacked. Will be back with new episodes later in the year."

The 40-year-old Dubliner says he often gets beaten by people far more knowledgeable than himself.

He said: “I work quite hard at studying and learning things I’m weak at but temperament is probably more important.

“I’m in a lot of quiz leagues and quiz competitions and I am in no way the best person.

“I get beaten very regularly by people who are better quizzers than me.

"They know more than me on a broader range of subjects but if you put them on camera where they have to focus under time pressure, they would really struggle.

“I just got absolutely battered in a quiz called the Carnation League by a couple of really good people. That keeps me grounded.”

And the 6ft 3in quiz master has one question he would love to know the answer to – when can he go home to Ireland to visit his family of three older brothers and a younger sister?

Darragh said: “I’m dying to see my mam and dad, especially as my dad has not been well. I call them every day.”
