The Chase star Anne Hegerty opens up about close relationship with host Bradley Walsh

Anne Hegerty reckons Bradley Walsh is the reason why she's stayed on The Chase for 12 years.

The brain box, aka The Governess, 64, is one of the stars of the ITV quiz show, which is presented by the Darling Buds of May actor, 62.

Viewers love the tea-time show in which an array of contestants try and pit their wits against the Chasers in the hope of bagging thousands of pounds.

Alongside Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, and Darragh Ennis, Anne looks like she's living her best life on the programme.

And now she's explained why.

Asked about what she loves most about her job, she said: "Oh I have too many favourite things. Possibly working with Brad.

"He is just this legendary presenter, and he is just such a nice guy, all the Chasers have such a nice rapport with him."

Anne added: "But also the fact that it is a job that I can do. It is sort of tailor-made for me and I can earn a decent living just by doing a few hours of work every day, which is brilliant," reports the Express.

The popular ITV show has been on screen since 2009 with Bradley fronting the programme since day one.

Anne joined a year later following impressive performances on shows such as Mastermind and Fifteen to One.

The Governess recently joked that despite her affection for Brad, he does tend to 'go on a bit'.

She told the Daily Star : "He sometimes has the tendency to chat on and on and on with contestants and we're sitting down at the bottom with The Chase's producer, who doubles as the show's editor, and he's like 'for goodness sake, Brad! This is all coming out' and makes snip gestures."

Despite this ,Anne admits she wouldn't want anyone else to host the show as she confessed to Metro it's "impossible to imagine" anyone else asking the questions.

When she's not terrifying contestants on The Chase, Anne is flexing her acting muscles for a role as a weary housekeeper in a show called Gammon, which has been created by Adam Bostock-Smith - who writes for the hit ITV game show.

Speaking about the role, the star told us: “Being on The Chase is the best job I’ve ever had but I’d love to do a bit of acting.

“I would like to be funny. Our writer Adam has written a sitcom called Gammon about these two dim brothers who live together. I’m the housekeeper and I’m the only sane person in the place.

“We don’t know what channel it will be on yet, but there is a full script for the pilot episode and an outline for the first six episodes.”
