The Chase's Shaun Wallace breaks silence after Bradley Walsh's retirement confession

The Chase star Shaun Wallace has insisted the show won't be the same if Bradley Walsh potentially retires from the show.

The Dark Destroyer has broken his silence on the hosts retirement after Bradley, 61, addressed quitting TV altogether during an appearance on the Jonathan Ross Show last weekend.

Speaking to host Jonathan, Bradley said he doesn't see himself being on TV for much longer.

“You know what, in a couple of years time I won’t have to do any of it, I’ll be retired and that’ll be it," he proclaimed.

"I don’t actually have time off," he added. "I have meetings, I have personal appearances I have to make and stuff like that with other things I’ve got going on, so it’s quite tricky to juggle it about.

“The Chase allows me to do the other stuff which I really want to do – not that I don’t love doing The Chase.”

After learning of Bradley's potential retirement, his co-star Shaun has said that The Chase wouldn't be the show it is without the it's much-loved host.

"It won't be the same without him. Let’s hope not," the TV star gushed.

“But if I’ve got anything to do with it, he’ll be going until his last breath.”

Anne Hegerty also previously put fans at ease following Bradley's admission.

Speaking on the My Time Capsule podcast: "I mean, I think this was Brad just talking off the cuff. I don’t think he has any plans to retire.

"I think he just meant, you know, obviously I can’t go on forever."

Bradley's retirement admission comes after he became a grandfather for the first time last month.

The TV star's daughter Hayley Walsh, 39, revealed in February she was expecting, and she has since given birth to a baby boy.

Bradley said: "I am a grandfather! My daughter and her husband Tom have had a baby boy, who is coming up for five months old.

"It's been tricky as during lockdown no one could get to see their grandchildren. Thank God for FaceTime - it has kept people in touch."

Bradley joked he plans to ply his grandchild with fizzy drinks and sweet treats before handing him back to Hayley, who he has from a previous relationship.

He said: "I'm going to be a brilliant grandfather because I've got this trick. When the baby grows into a toddler, make sure you spend plenty of time with them, feeding them ice cream and Coca-Cola, and then give them back at just the right time and say to your children, 'There you are, that's what you were like.'"
