The Chase's Paul Sinha tells contestants he's 'really sorry'

Paul Sinha was full of apologies on The Chase as he marginally beat tonight's team.

Joe, Lindsay, Katie and Mandy all hoped to win big and go home with a huge cash prize.

The team started strong, with Joe securing £5,000.

Retired GP Lindsay showed his class, earning £8,000 in the cash builder and breezing through to the final.

Katie added an extra £4,000 to the prize pot, while Mandy, who won £7,000 in the cash builder, was eliminated by The Sinnerman.

During the final chase, the team, mainly with Lindsay's help, scored a decent 19 steps.

And it appeared they would take home the jackpot after Paul got three questions wrong.

But with one second on the clock, The Sinnerman managed to reach the team's score of 19.

However, the difficulty of the final was not lost on Paul.

He said: "I got lucky, you played superbly."

And as Joe, Lindsay and Katie's £19,000 was eliminated, Paul added: "I'm sorry, I'm really really sorry".

And viewers were equally gutted for the team given how tight the battle was.

Harris tweeted: "#TheChase OMG, what a final chase!!! Lindsay, what a performance!"

Thomas said: "Wow!! Great ending well done Paul."

A third wrote: "Ooh, 1 second left! Paul, you left us hanging right there!"

And Wayne said: "Phenomenal finish by the Sinnerman."
