The Chase's Paul Sinha applauded by fans for savage takedown of Katie Hopkins

The Chase star Paul Sinha seized his chance to make a dig against Katie Hopkins during tonight's episode.

A repeat of a historic show, Paul took a jab at controversial right-wing figure Hopkins after her name was dropped as the answer to a question.

During the opening round, hopeful contestant Peter was given a string a quick-fire questions by host Bradley Walsh.

One of these asked who had set out to gain and then lose three stone for the show My Fat Story, to prove obesity as a choice.

The answer...Katie Hopkins.

In what might have been a first for the show, Paul commended Peter's lack of knowledge.

Coming out to face Peter after he admitted he didn't know the answer, Paul told him: "A good performance, well done.

"And anyone who doesn't know who Katie Hopkins is is A-OK with me."

Fans were quick to applaud Paul's words, one sharing a clapping emoji and tweeting: "Paul hating on Katie Hopkins #TheChase."

"Screw you, Katie Hopkins! #TheChase," another wrote.

"Paul hates hateful Hopkins. Pass it on!" a third chimed in.

Katie career has been beset by controversy, which included the online bullying of Little Mix's Jesy Nelson, judging Meghan Markle based on her dress sense and allegedly fostering racial hatred in South Africa.

Back in June, a spokesperson for Twitter - Hopkins main opinion-sharing platform - confirmed that she'd been removed from the site after violating its hateful conduct rules.

The Chase has been airing old episodes amid the coronavirus crisis, after filming came to a grinding halt in February.

But fans desperate for fresh content can breathe a sigh of relief after ITV announced new episodes would be coming their way as part of the broadcaster's autumn 2020 slate.
