The Chase's Mark 'The Beast' Labbett performs epic takedown of Piers Morgan following Chase defeat

It’s not often that Piers Morgan gets put in his place, but today it was done in epic proportions by Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett.

The Chase star was on Good Morning Britain, along with the ITV gameshow host Bradley Walsh who was on a telephone link up, to discuss Piers’ rather poor performance on Saturday’s episode.

Piers, along with co-stars Susanna Reid, Kate Garraway and Richard Arnold, appeared on the quiz programme for a celebrity special.

The 54-year-old got a pathetic three questions right in the cash builder round, while Susanna got an impressive seven correct.

When Piers admitted today that the show was “harder” than he anticipated, Mark took that as a cue to tear the presenter to shreds.

Mark told him: "I'm heartbroken you've molded yourself as the epitome of English manliness for years, who deals with princes and presidents.

"Then you you absolutely cracked like the snowflake you are."

Always reaching for the final word, Piers replied in his typically haughty manner.

He said: "I would never have used the phrase 'English manliness' because I'm Irish so that is another factual error I'm afraid."

He also tried to catch the Chaser out by asking him a question on the spot about what Cockney rhyming slang ‘taters’ means.

When Mark said he had no idea, Piers continued: “Exactly. When the pressure is on and you’re out of your normal environment, useless.”

It is short for ‘taters in the mold’ meaning ‘cold’.

Bradley chipped in to say he felt “sorry” for Piers over his own cockney rhyming slang question, which he had also never heard of.

The question went: ‘In Cockney rhyming slang, borrow and beg refers to what breakfast food?’ - the answer was egg.

GMB airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
