The Chase's Mark Labbett piles on the sass after contestant chooses lower offer

The Chase star Mark Labbett takes no prisoners with his ice cold remarks.

Mark - nicknamed The Beast and feared by all comers - employed his customary sass after a contestant went for a lower offer.

Speech therapist Colette tried her luck against Mark and his encyclopedic knowledge, but not before giving him a quick elocution lesson.

When Mark laid out his offers, Collette looked tempted by the higher figure, but decided to play it safe and opt with the lower £6,000.

Looking nervous as host Bradley Walsh read out the questions, Collette eventually triumphed and progressed to the next round after correctly answering a question on the origins of parkour.

But The Beast couldn't resist having a dig, taking aim at Colette and fellow contestant Ben.

"I think we better invent a term," he said with a smile, "for what Ben and Colette are feeling now.

"Maybe relief tinged with a bit of regret, thinking, 'Why didn't I go high?!'"

Bradley was quick to jump in on the joke, remarking: "Yes, yes. Let's invent a word.

"'Gutted.'"

Tonight's episode was a repeat, after coronavirus brought production to a halt back in February.

It's currently uncertain when the show will get up and running again, with Bradley previously telling that they'll have a lot to catch up on when they're back.

*The Chase airs weeknights on ITV at 5pm.
