The Chase star Mark Labbett, AKA The Beast, addressed the show's lively Twitter audience in a show first on Monday as he discussed the lower offer.
Mark noted that the show's daily viewers who are very active on Twitter, tend to hurl abuse at contestants who take the lower offer.
But, he noted, sometimes it's the wisest way to play the game.
Mark offered player Ieuan, who was playing alongside Pauline, Catherine, and Geoff, £4,000, or a low offer of £-2,000, and a higher offer of £46,000.
Pauline advised him: "We've got two back already, taking the middle offer seems to be working, take the £4,000.
Catherine added: "I think you're plenty smart enough for the £4,000, take the four grand."
Geoff said: "I think both of us have said we should've gone for the top offer, four grand, okay."
But Ieuan was caught on his final question, which was: "In Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, the Pharaoh is usually portrayed in the style of which singer?"
The answer options were A) Elvis Presley, B) Freddie Mercury, or C) Sid Vicious, and Ieuan looked uncertain, but guessed B.
He was wrong, and Mark had correctly guessed A, Elvis, and boasted: "No, I didn't know it, but Elvis is the King baby, who else could it be!?"
He added: "There are people at home who give people a ton of grief for taking negative offers, but if Ieuan had taken the negative offer he'd be home now and you'd be looking at a full house."
Twitter users have even created a "low offer klaxon" that they tweet about when a player takes the infamous offer.
Tweets have included: "Hope you lose you absolute lower offer s**thouse! # TheChase " and "YOU ABSOLUTE LOWER OFFER W***ER ABSOLUTE P***K #thechase ".
Another wrote: " #thechase taking the lower offer , hope Emma loses big style !!!! Its thieving from the team!! So insulting!!!"
Another tweeted: "God I hate people who take the lower offer on the chase, what is the point of going on the show if you don’t rate your own general knowledge skills!? If I was on her team I’d want her to lose #thechase ".
Another asks: How do people that take the lower offer on #TheChase sleep at night" while another remarked: "Hope the girl that took the lower offer is reading #TheChase tag right now. S**t bag."
