The Chase's firefighter contestant Will causes uproar with 'cowardly' decision

The Chase viewers were furious at firefighter Will's decision on Thursday's show, which was a repeat.

Host Bradley Walsh quizzed Will on his brave profession, and viewers may have expected his risk-taking to have continued into his game strategy on the show.

But they were wrong - and Will took an astonishing low offer when taking on the Sinnerman, Paul Sinha.

This was straight after fellow contestant Camilla had just celebrating getting through to the final with a whopping £40,000.

Paul offered Will a choice of a minus offer of -£10,000 or +£4,000, and Camilla urged Will to take the higher offer.

But she conceded that if he did not feel confident, she would understand if he took the lower offer.

Will took the lower offer and Camilla appeared understanding, but the same could not be said about the viewers.

One tweeted: "Just saw someone on The Chase get through with minus £10k, absolutely livid now".

Another ranted: "He made it to the final as well #TheChase if they win she should take £35k and him £5k for being a selfish t**t!!!"

Another branded Will: "The most selfish emergency service worker I’ve ever seen".

A fourth wrote: " @thechase hope the cowardly fire fighter is caught!"

However - Will eventually outran the chaser and performed fantastically in the final round, with he and Camilla both taking home £15,000.

But this was not enough for some viewers to forgive him, with one raging: "Sorry but however well he did in the final chase, nothing can excuse the -10K #thechase ".

Viewers called Will a "coward" when he told Bradley Walsh his decision (ITV)

However, others applauded him for his performance in the final round, and said it redeemed him.

"I'm gonna have to admit that Will did the right thing taking the minus offer. Made up for it in the final chase. #TheChase " wrote one.

"B****r! But he did play well in the final, so I’ll let him off. #TheChase " added another.

"To be fair Will redeemed himself in the final chase! #TheChase " remarked a third.
