The Chase's Darragh Ennis flustered into wrong answer as contestant secures £71K win

Chaser Darragh Ennis felt the heat in a recent episode of The Chase.

The newest addition to the show's line-up of quiz masters, Darragh "The Menace" and hopeful contestant Joel were asked by host Bradley Walsh a tricky question that required some serious mental maths.

But little did Darragh know that Joel - just as baffled by the question as him - had some sneaky mind games up his sleeve.

Having wracked up a respectable £5,000 in his cash builder round, Joel admitted he was disappointed, and went for Darragh's higher offer of £71,000.

"525,600 minutes is equal to what length of time?" Bradley asked, the options A) A decade, B) Six months or C) One year.

Joel quickly decided it was C, revealing he was making a quick decision to try and pressure Darragh into a rushed and incorrect guess.

"I couldn't do the maths quick enough and I knew he didn't know so I had to pressure him," he laughed.

And it worked, Darragh opting for B, before Bradley announced that he was wrong and Joel had gone right.

"You didn't give me enough time to do the maths," said Darragh.

And confident Joel went on to secure his £71,000, and a place in the final.

But the team were ousted by Darragh, as he outstripped them with 38 seconds to go.

Darragh joined the line-up late last year, joining Mark Labbett, Anne Hegerty, Shaun Wallace, Paul Sinha and Jenny Ryan.

The popular show's now been running for more than 10 years.
