The Chase's Bradley Walsh praises 'extraordinary' player after solo battle for £80k

Fans were floored watching The Chase tonight with some even calling for one player to become a new chaser.

The ITV quiz show welcomed four new contestants hoping to win a cash prize, with Bradley Walsh hosting and 'The Governess' Anne Hegerty out to stop them in their tracks as the chaser.

Binesh, from Bristol, Tash from Liverpool, Omar from Newcastle under Lyme and Annabelle an entrepreneur all went head to head with the brainbox.

Annabelle, 50, amazed not only fans but also Bradley and even the chaser as she solo battled for an £80,000 cash prize in an intense but thrilling game.

All of the other players had been knocked out of the quiz show as chaser Anne caught them one by one before it was Annabelle's turn in the hot seat.

Being the only contestant left in the game she decided to really test her wits as she opted for a high offer of £80,000.

Everyone thought she had no chance so were more than surprised when she smashed the round and went on to face the final alone playing for the whopping prize pot.

She miraculously managed to answer 19 questions correctly, which were added to her single head start, meaning that Chaser Anne had to successfully answer 20 questions in just two minutes.

Bradley was in awe, as he said: "Some performance that"

Anne added: "Not only good, but more important, quick!"

Viewers at home were beyond excited as they flooded Twitter with praise for the player.

One user said: "#TheChase My God, Annabelle is AMAZING!!"

Lee said: "If Annabelle doesn’t win they should definitely offer her a job #thechase"

Mr Chambers said: "Annabelle is good - new Chaser?… #TheChase"

Leanne said: "Wow! A new chaser right there! #TheChase"

Raymond said: "Annabelle on #TheChase what a performance, so close to £80,000 on her own"

Unfortunately, it was all over for Annabelle as Anne caught her with only nine seconds left on the clock.

But the praise didn't end there, as Bradley said: "That was extraordinary. Most fantastic match I've taken part in a long long while. What a match, what an exciting show."

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and ITV Hub
