The Chase's Bradley Walsh makes mortifying blunder as Mark Labbett humiliates him

The Chase host Bradley Walsh looked mortified during Wednesday's show when he made an awkward error and was teased mercilessly.

Bradley is known for claiming "all day long" when he thinks he knows the correct answer to a question given to one of the contestants.

And sometimes he is so cocky it comes back to bite him when it transpires he is wrong.

Chaser Mark 'The Beast' Labbett was not about to let Bradley get away with it after he made an embarrassing blunder - admitting he thought the sun was a planet.

After educating Bradley on the science behind the answer, Mark then begged ITV to let him to a programme called Educating Bradley, referring to previous documentaries including Educating Yorkshire and Educating Joey Essex.

Mark told Bradley he would be "even easier" to educate than TOWIE star Joey.

Bradley asked: "Which of these are there thought to be most of in our galaxy?

"A) Stars, B) Black holes, or C) Planets."

Baffled, he wondered: "What sort of a question is that? What sort of a question is that?"

As player Harry picked A, Bradley said: "Well, yeah! It's got to be, hasn't it? Correct answer has got to be stars."

But his face dropped when it was revealed the answer was actually C.

"Eh!? No!" he exclaimed.

Mark told him: "As you would say, all day long! Think about it, we have got eight planets, to our one star, plus dwarf planets."

Waving his arms around, Bradley said: "Hang on, hold tight, one star, which one is the star?"

"The sun! So one star, eight planets," Mark told him.

Bradley admitted: "Hang on, I didn't know it was a star, I just thought it was another planet but very hot!"

Mark asked: "ITV, can I do a show right now called Educating Bradley?"

Bradley laughed: "Well it would have about 152,000 episodes."

Mark shot back: "It's like Educating Joey Essex but even easier! Ooh, too mean? I don't think so!" he joked, as Bradley looked deeply offended.

One viewer tweeted: "Turned on the chase to find Brad asking what a star is and that he thought it was just a hot planet...that statement almost made me give up on this show for good #thechase ".

Another asked: "Bradley thought that the sun was just a very hot planet? #TheChase ".

"F**k sake, the sun a planet #TheChase," added a third.

"No, Brad, it’s not ‘gotta be’ stars! You’re wrong! Stop trolling! #TheChase," wrote a fourth.

* The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5:30pm
