The Chase's Bradley Walsh in disbelief at player's height as fans call him 'the new Beast'

The Chase host Bradley Walsh teased smart contestant Nathan, saying he "made The Beast look like Janette Krankie!" because of his height.

The 6ft 10ins finalist wowed the show's host with how tall he was, as much as his ability to take on the Chaser.

He said the quizzer dwarfed towering Chaser Mark Labbett - who stands at a huge 6ft 6ins.

After learning Nathan's height, Bradley joked: "You make The Beast look like Janette Krankie!'

He then made a football quip, agreeing with tonight's Chaser Shaun Wallace, who previously won Mastermind back in 2004.

He said the horse racing investigator from Northampton would make a great "centre half".

Fans of the show suggested Nathan could replace The Beast, as he impressed everyone with his electric start to Wednesday's ITV show.

"He's the real Beast" one said on twitter.

Another joked: "Either Brad is small or Nathan is incredibly tall!"

One viewer added: "Nathan is the BFG!"

That wasn't all, with another posting: "Nathan can probably see eye to eye with the Chaser!"

Nathan, 43, didn't only shock Bradley with his height though.

The host was amazed with his job too, after confessing he had "never heard of" Nathan's profession.

The quiz king works as a horse racing investigator - which sees him regulate all manner of issues within the industry, including the sport's betting practices.

Laughing and referencing Nathan's height, Bradley asked: "Were you ever a jockey?"

Towering Nathan retorted: "Funny enough, I did have a licence when I was 16!"

Bradley laughed and responded: "You did not!"

Nathan reached the final on Wednesday but was gutted to go home empty handed.
