The Chase's Bradley Walsh in disbelief as Shaun Wallace gets easy maths question wrong

Bradley Walsh was in disbelief at a question Shaun Wallace got wrong on today's episode of The Chase.

Four new contestants tested their wits against The Dark Destroyer in a bid to win a cash prize in the latest edition of the popular ITV gameshow

But the 61-year-old Chaser did not seem his usual self in the first head-to-head against dance teacher Shelagh.

Shelagh was playing for £4000 when Bradley asked the first question of the show: "Which of these totals is the highest number?"

The three options were 'Inches in a foot, dozens in a gross and pounds in a stone' - and Bradley could not believe it when both the contestant and the Chaser went for the second option.

The correct answer is actually pounds in a stone, as this is fourteen while the other measurements are both twelve.

As The Dark Destroyer tried to explain himself, Bradley quipped: "And only a dozen bits of grey matter in your head."

Viewers took to Twitter to air their disbelief at how The Chaser got such a simple question wrong:

One user said: "Mark seriously needs to have a word with Shaun about his maths ! #thechase"

Another added: "14lbs in a stone. Shaun fluffing his lines early on. #TheChase"

A third tweeted: "Thrown the flaming question klaxon!!! #thechase"

It proved to be a momentary blip as the Chaser did recover to catch Shelagh and 31-year-old occupational therapist Holly in the head-to-head rounds.

Daniel, a greenkeeper from Darlington, brought £7000 back home and was joined by 72-year old Norman with £1000 meaning the contestants were playing for a combined £8000 in the final chase.

But the 13 steps they built up did not prove to be enough - as Shaun Wallace caught them with 53 seconds remaining meaning they went home empty-handed.

The Chase airs on weekdays from 5pm on ITV and ITVHub
