The Chase's Bradley Walsh horrified by contestant Murdo's bizarre job

The Chase presenter Bradley Walsh was horrified by a contestant's bizarre job, and viewers were convinced they must have misheard him.

On Wednesday's episode, a repeat, Murdo revealed to Bradley that he was a chicken sexer, meaning he works out whether chickens are male or female.

He even went on to say he sexes more than 3,000 chicks an hour at work.

Bradley asked: "Crikey, how long have you been doing that then?"

Bradley Walsh was taken aback (ITV)

Murdo replied: "Four years".

He also called his strange occupation an "amazing job" before going on to play The Vixen (Jenny Ryan).

She quipped to him: "Murdo, you're the only man I know who goes through more chickens than The Beast!"

While some viewers raged about Murdo's job as male chicks are usually killed straight away, others found it hilarious.

Murdo said he loved his job of working out the sex of chicks (ITV)

But they also pondered whether Murdo should have been quite so honest about his real job on national TV.

"Would you admit to being a chicken sexer #TheChase " asked one.

"It’s easier lying about your job than owning up to being a chicken sexer #TheChase " added another.

"Still didn't catch what Murdo does with chickens but it sounds inappropriate. #TheChase " joked a third.

Viewers were baffled by the strange occupation (ITV)

A fourth gushed: "That’s my favourite job answer ever #TheChase ".

Next up was player Renee, who made the unheard of choice of playing for £0 but a place in the final after her paltry cash builder score, and viewers couldn't believe their eyes.

"First time I've ever seen someone get £0 on the Chase" wrote one.

Another questioned: "Why play for zero pounds??? What if she was the only one to get back??!! #TheChase "

"How are you getting £0 on the chase and not taking higher of 30k" asked a third.

*The Chase continues weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
