The Chase's Bradley Walsh floored by St Helens contestant's Benidorm past

Bradley Walsh was left in disbelief when a contestant from St Helens revealed his Benidorm past on today's episode of The Chase.

Four new players appeared on the popular ITV gameshow and took on Chaser Jenny in a bid to win thousands of pounds.

The third contestant to take on The Vixen was Gareth, a children's carer from St Helens.

The 38-year-old faced an in-form Chaser as Jenny Ryan swiftly caught Karina and George in the head-to-head.

But before he showcased his general knowledge, Bradley Walsh was floored when he asked Gareth what he worked as before he became a residential childcare officer.

He said: "I was a DJ in Benidorm for four years. That was a bit crazy.

"I started around 9/10 o'clock and I'd finish around 3/4 - and then the other DJ would come in and he'd finish around 7 every single night."

A shocked Bradley Walsh asked why he returned and the former DJ confirmed he was brought back to St Helens by love - and is now married with two daughters.

The St Helens man built up £3,000 in the cash-builder and successfully navigated his way back home for the Final Chase.

But he was forced to compete on his after Zoe was caught after gambling to play for the higher amount of £77,000.

Gareth only built up 7 steps and Bradley Walsh joked he was going to ask the Chaser questions in German to give the St Helens man a fair chance.

Jenny Ryan caught Gareth in 30 seconds meaning the former DJ left the show empty handed.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and ITVHub
