The Chase's Bradley Walsh exasperated as Mariella Frostrup makes same bizarre blunder twice

The Chase host Bradley Walsh could barely contain his frustration on the celebrity special of the show re-aired on Saturday.

TV presenter Mariella Frostrup repeatedly shouted out her answer while she was facing the chaser, Anne Hegerty AKA The Governess.

Not only did this not count as her answer, but it also gave Anne the answer if she did not know it already.

Mariella was supposed to silently press the option on the screen to indicate which answer she wanted to give, and she almost missed her time slot to do so because she was shouting the question at Bradley.

The question for both Mariella and Anne was: "What name follows 'George' in the name of a singer-songwriter and goes before 'Pound' in the name of a poet?"

Mariella shouted: "Ezra!"

"You've got to press C! C!" cried Bradley.

"I pressed it!" said Mariella, while Anne looked unimpressed.

"Yes, you're in time," Bradley reassured her.

"I don't know which button you pressed, it was like a blur," he added.

"Shall I press it again?" asked a nervous Mariella.

"Well it's too late now!" said Bradley.

After a couple more questions, Mariella made the same blunder again, shouting her answer out at Bradley instead of pressing the correct option on the screen, with Bradley not even laughing any more and just looking a little frazzled.

Anne quipped: "Next time I am going to wait for you to shout out the answer and then I am going to press the button!"

One viewer tweeted: Mariella shouting out the answers is Lolz #TheChase ".

Another added: " @ITVChase the nicest way to describe Mariella is "dizzy" #thechase ".

* The Chase airs on weekdays on ITV at 5pm
