The Chase's Bradley Walsh and Shaun Wallace perform duet and dance in baffling scenes

Fans of The Chase were in for a treat this evening as host Bradley Walsh and Chaser Shaun Wallace showed off their dulcet tones.

In bizarre scenes, Bradley and Shaun, who was taking on the new set of four hopefuls in the knowledge stakes, were prompted by a question about Greek music to give their own rendition.

As one contestant stepped up to test his quiz knowledge against barrister Shaun's, Bradley asked him: "Which Greek topped the UK singles chart in 1976?"

Shaun went right with Demis Roussos, prompting him to dish out some trivia about all the possible answers.

"Vangelis wrote the Oscar-winning theme to Chariots of Fire, Nana Mouskouri used to be a Greek MEP, and Demis Roussos was in [band] Aphrodite's Child, I believe," Shaun remarked.

Bradley couldn't help himself but start singing Forever and Ever, one of Demis Roussos' biggets hits.

Shaun joined in, Bradley even busting out a little dance, as the contestants chuckled.

"I've said it before and I'll say it again, Bradley and Shaun are the best daytime double act."

"Bradley and Shaun need to do a duet album!"

"Omg I just can't at Bradley and Shaun's Demis Roussos impression! That was the laugh I didn't know I needed today. Thank you! #TheChase."

The Chase was forced to bring production to a halt all the way back in February, after Covid threw a spanner in the works.

Fans were kept happy with episodes of new spin-off show Beat The Chasers, which had been filmed in January.

It saw contestants choose how many of the five Chasers to take on.

The show received popular acclaim as Mark, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, Shaun Wallace and Anne Hegerty joined forces.

ITV bosses opted to air historic episodes of the classic show until Bradley and the Chasers could get back in the studio and film new ones.

Fans breathed a collective sigh of relief when the broadcaster announced that its autumn slate included new episodes, as well as new Tipping Point and a new gameshow for the afternoon fronted by Omid Djalili.

*The Chase airs on ITV at 5pm on weeknights.
