The Chase's Bradley Walsh accidentally offers player more money in blunder

Bradley Walsh made a bit of a blunder with the cash on tonight's episode on The Chase.

Jennifer, Martin, Megan and Adam became a team on the ITV quiz show to take on Chaser Anne Hegerty. With hopes of winning a cash prize, the contestants had to test their wits and answer a series of questions correctly.

The game didn't get off to the best of starts as Jennifer went home empty handed after going head to head with The Governess for a middle offer of £5,000. Next up was Martin, a retired 61-year-old, who also got five questions correct in his cashbuilder.

He bagged the first bit of cash for the jackpot in tonight's show and made his way swiftly to the final. Third to play was Megan who only managed to answer one question correctly in the first round.

After much thought she decided to opt for a low offer after being offered £40,000, £1,000 or £500. But while playing in her head to head round against Anne, host Bradley Walsh accidently offered her more cash in a blunder which eagle eyed viewers pointed out.

Brad asked: "The quotation 'it is a wise father that knows his own child' come from what Shakespeare play?" Megan answered with "Hamlet".

Building suspense, Bradley incorrectly offered the player more money as he said: "Correct answer to go through with five grand is..." The player was only playing for £500 which fans on Twitter quickly pointed out.

One user said: "'Correct answer to go through with 5 grand'. Uhh... Bradley?? #TheChase"

Dan said: "To got through with 5 grand? You sure, Brad? #TheChase"

A third added: "He just said the wrong amount. Five HUNDRED not THOUSAND Brad #TheChase."

It turned out that it didn't matter too much anyway as at that point in the game, the 20-year-old had answered incorrectly. The right answer was "The Merchant of Venice." She attempted another two questions before finally making it back to the bench with a place in the final and £500 added to the pot.
