The Chase's Anne Hegerty makes dig at contestant's Penny Lane home

Anne Hegarty didn't hold back against contestants on the latest instalment of The Chase.

The ITV quiz show welcomed four new contestants hoping to win a cash prize, with Bradley Walsh hosting and 'The Governess' Anne Hegerty out to stop them in their tracks as the chaser.

Binesh, from Bristol, Tash from Liverpool, Omar from Newcastle under Lyme and Annabelle an entrepreneur all went head to head with the brainbox.

The chaser was obviously feeling confident after sending first player, Binesh, home with nothing.

But it was Tash, a 24-year-old HR administrator, who was in the chaser's sights as Anne made a sly dig based on the contestant's Liverpool home.

Talking about where she lives, Tash said: "I live in Liverpool, I'm not scouse though."

She went on to explain she has now lived in Merseyside for seven years but is originally from Grantham.

The player said she is big on music and even used to live on world-famous Penny Lane.

After getting only £3,000 in the cash builder round, Tash opted for the low offer of £300 from Anne.

She explained her decision as she said: "It's a tough one, I think Anne's on really good form and I'm a bit nervous so I'm going to go for the £300... bring it back."

Anne replied as she said: "I love that you used to live on Penny Lane... It's probably the amount of money that you're going to take home."

The chaser was later proved to be correct as Tash had no chance again the quiz game genius and returned to Liverpool empty handed.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and ITV Hub
