The Chase Rangers row reignites as Celtic fan clashes with TV star over 'triple relegation' question

Don't let anyone tell you Scottish football isn't the most bizarre place in the world.

When the creators of ITV's hit gameshow The Chase made their questions this week, they wouldn't have predicted the fallout north of the border.

A question asking which Scottish club was 'triple relegated' in 2012 sparked anger among sections of the Celtic support who insist Rangers were liquidated rather than relegated.

That's a debate that has been raging on in Scottish football for eight years and although the vast majority of football fans moved on from it seven-and-a-half years ago, there's still some who don't agree.

And one Celtic fan incurred the wrath of a Chaser after they told them to sort their researchers out over the question.

Quiz guru Jenny Ryan took to Twitter to initially criticise the supporter - named Steven - for telling her to smile while on screen.

He replied to say: One favour, though. Tell your researches that Rangers were not ‘triple-relegated’ in 2012.

"The SFA articles of of association state that club/company are the same. The co. Went bust, and a new club formed.”

Jenny responded: “They’re not my researchers.”

And when Steven hit back with “Ok.. THE researchers”, she blasted: “I don’t get to tell the researchers anything, they don’t work for me.

"But I *do* know that all questions on the Chase are fully sourced and then verified, to ensure the accuracy of the material.”
